The milestone came after the 2-1 victory over the Houston Astros in the start of the rivalry series at Daikin Park, in a match as close as it was significant. At 70 years old, Bochy continues to expand a legacy that will inevitably take him to Cooperstown.

With this mark, Bochy is only behind five immortal names in baseball:

  • Joe Torre (2,326)
  • Bobby Cox (2,504)
  • John McGraw (2,763)
  • Tony La Russa (2,884)
  • Connie Mack (3,731)

Bochy, born in Bussac, France, on April 16, 1955, is managing his 28th season in Major League Baseball, accumulating a total record of 2,195-2,206 in 4,401 regular season games, with three organizations: San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Texas Rangers.

His career is filled with achievements:

  • Three World Series titles with the Giants (2010, 2012, 2014)
  • One title with the Rangers in 2023
  • 13 seasons with a positive record
  • Manager of the Year Award

Bochy took the reins of the Rangers in 2023 and since then has achieved a record of 192-177 with the team. Previously, he had a balance of 951-975 with the Padres between 1995 and 2006, and a record of 1,052-1,054 with the Giants between 2007 and 2019.

The victory against the Astros not only represented a key divisional triumph, but a new step in a career that has marked generations and that, with each game, continues to write golden pages in the history of baseball.
