American singer-songwriter Janet Jackson was one of the main protagonists of the night at the American Music Awards 2025 as she was recognized with the ICON Award, a prize that highlights the cultural and global influence of the artist.

“I feel so honored and grateful! I don't want to disrespect anyone, but I don't consider myself an icon. Neither my family nor I ever dreamed of achieving fame. We weren't raised that way. We always had a special love for music, dance, singing, and fame came with effort and dedication,” said Janet Jackson, very excited, as she received the award, dressed in a Vetements look.

And he added to those present: “My story, that of my family, is truly an American story. This would have only happened in the United States.”

Jackson took the stage in an outfit that reflected his distinctive personality: baggy jeans, a white quilted jacket, and a t-shirt of the same color.

Janet Jackson's performance for the event began with her 2001 classic “Someone to Call My Lover”, followed by a vibrant version of “All for You”, which included a guitar solo that captured the audience's attention.

After thanking his team, his management, his dancers, producers, musicians, fans, and many more people who have helped in his decades-long career, Jackson left the audience with these words: “Keep God in every part of your life, because that is where He wants to be.”

Janet Jackson, the youngest of the nine children of the Jackson family, and sister of the legendary Michael Jackson, is one of the most influential artists of the modern era who have allowed her to be crowned with five Grammys, two Emmys, a Golden Globe, an Oscar nomination and dozens of American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards.

The ICON Awards is presented during the AMAs awards ceremony to artists whose work has had a profound influence on pop music globally, and was previously received by figures such as Rihanna (2013) and Lionel Richie (2022).
