Soto, who signed a historic 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets in the offseason, has begun to regain his form after a complicated May. With his 12th home run of the season and a key RBI double, the four-time All-Star showed his most competitive version, even directing a challenging look at pitcher MacKenzie Gore, the same one he was traded with in 2022. "We were greeting each other. That's all," Soto said with a slight smile, drawing laughter from the reporters when asked about the gesture. Gore, current leader of the Major Leagues with 114 strikeouts, downplayed the moment: "There's nothing wrong. And he beat me. It was just a bad slider and he hit it out of the park." In addition to the home run, Soto shone with an accurate throw from right field that put a runner out at the plate, reinforcing his contribution in defense. With this performance, the batter has eight hits in his last four games and has reached base in the last 12 consecutive games, recording a batting average of .341 and an OPS of 1.225 in that period. Tuesday's performance marks another firm step in Soto's resurgence, who seeks to establish himself as the face of the renewed Mets and leave behind his irregular start to the season.
