They arrest 'dentist' who used internet tutorials to treat patients

The Czech Republic Police reported that it has arrested a family that was running an illegal dental office using tutorials and information from the Internet. The alleged professionals started the business in 2023 in the city of Havlickuv Brod, in the center of the country, although one of the neighbors claims that the father of the family had been offering dental services for much longer.

Despite not having the necessary license or experience, they attended to dozens of people who made them earn about four million Czech crowns (185,000 dollars). Thus, a 22-year-old pretended to be a dentist, performing extractions, root canals, and administering anesthesia, based on information obtained from the Web. While a 50-year-old woman worked as a nurse alongside another 44-year-old man who, in addition to being the owner of the premises, made prostheses for the patients. It was also revealed that the woman worked in the healthcare sector, so she could have access to anesthetics and other types of dental material such as fillings, cleaning powders, glue, impression material, among others. The individuals responsible were arrested earlier this month and have been charged with conducting illegal business, money laundering, attempted assault, as well as drug production and trafficking. The woman was separately charged with the crime of theft. None of those involved had a criminal record and they have been released on bail after pleading guilty. Now they face a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
