Abinader in an interview with Fox News highlights economic reciprocity policy with the US

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader highlighted the policy of economic reciprocity that the Dominican Republic maintains with the United States as one of its main partners in exports, which include almost 3 million dollars in medical devices.

In an exclusive interview with the Fox News network, the president highlighted the intention to double the foreign investment record with the pro-business and open economy agenda that the island maintains. "We are exporting almost 3 million dollars in medical devices, we are also looking for the semiconductor niche, meaning that the Dominican Republic is open for business, for export to the United States, we have a policy of great reciprocity as is the commercial policy sought by President Trump", stated the president.

DR is a strategic partner of the US

It is recalled that in April of this year the Dominican Republic and the United States held in Washington, a high-level meeting in which the recent global tariff disposition announced by the US Government was addressed in a direct and constructive manner.

The official Dominican delegation was composed of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez; and the Minister of Finance, José Manuel Vicente.

The meeting was described as positive, friendly and oriented towards permanent dialogue. During the meeting, the US delegation acknowledged the closeness of the Dominican Republic and its role as a strategic partner in the region. They explained that the global tariff measure responds to an overall view of international trade, applying a minimum tariff of 10 % in the Dominican case.
