Each year, CONALECHE runs a monitoring program that is considered a key tool for the continuous improvement of the dairy sector for the benefit of the consumer. During visits, technicians use equipment such as cryoscopes and Ecomil analyzers, which allow them to detect the presence of water, and measure parameters such as fat, protein, and total solids. Acidity, mastitis, and methylene blue reduction time tests, among others, are also applied. The inspections are carried out through the Dairy Technical Department and cover the entire national geography, impacting provinces such as San Juan, Barahona, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Puerto Plata, Jarabacoa and Dajabón. Mariana Furaki, head of the Dairy Technical Department, pointed out that monitoring is an essential and continuous service, which can also be requested by collection centers. In addition, the annual monitoring program allows to identify and correct failures in the quality and safety of the product, with the support of MEGALECHE technicians, as well as with the support of the National Directorate of Livestock (DIGEGA). To operate properly, collection centers must have adequate infrastructure, cooling systems, trained personnel, and quality management to control the reception, storage, and transportation of milk.
