Minerd strengthens CAPEM and creates alliances for school psychoemotional well-being

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) presented to various state institutions the services of the Psych-Emotional Care Center (CAPEM), with the aim of reinforcing mental health in schools and coordinating joint actions for the benefit of students, teachers and families. During the activity, the nature, scope, and operating protocols of CAPEM were presented, which offers clinical psychological care, learning therapy, and psychometric evaluations, both in person and remotely. So far this year, the center has served 1,422 people, including 1,117 students, 288 teachers, and 38 administrative employees. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Public Health, the National Health Service (SNS), the National Council on Disability (CONADIS), the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI), the National Association of Education Professionals and Technicians (ANPROTED), as well as teachers, psychologists, and families. The Vice Minister of Technical and Pedagogical Services, Ancell Scheker, highlighted that the CAPEM constitutes "a hope of life for the entire educational community" and underscored the importance of strengthening networks and inter-institutional alliances to promote integral well-being.

For her part, the Director of Guidance and Psychology, Divina García, pointed out that this socialization represents a firm step towards "a more human, inclusive, and sensitive education to the realities of the students", and informed that the center has a free and confidential support line: *809-200-0747 or 747. The MINERD announced that it will continue the expansion of CAPEM services in coordination with the regional directorates, with the goal that no school in the country is left without access to timely and quality psychoemotional support.
