Eduardo Estrella: “The Baní Ring Road is to unite the country and give life to the south”

Baní, Peravia. – The Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella, described the Baní Ring Road as a historic work that will not only transform the mobility of the province of Peravia, but will also connect the entire south with the capital and the rest of the country in a more agile and safe way. The road, 19 kilometers long and with 17 bridges (including the main one over the Baní River), was built with the future in mind, with structures prepared for four lanes and fills that allow overpasses to communities like Salinas. With a total investment of more than 7 billion 700 million pesos, its execution was carried out by two contracting companies, with Ingeniería Estrella being responsible for completing it. Estrella highlighted that this road will allow access from Pedernales, Elías Piña, San Juan, Barahona, Bahoruco and Azua to Punta Cana without encountering a single traffic light, thanks to the integration with other bypasses and highways. "This is development, it's security, it's shortening distances. The traffic jams that paralyzed Baní during Holy Week or Christmas are now a thing of the past," Estrella affirmed.

In addition, he announced a pilot plan for the arborization of the country's main roads, initiated in the new ring road, to beautify and protect the right of way, avoiding illegal occupations. Finally, he reiterated his call to the community to be vigilant in order to preserve the work and take advantage of the tourist and economic potential that it will bring to the entire region. "We want people to enjoy the landscape, to come to the south and see that progress is also being built here," he concluded.
