Santo Domingo. - The Public Ministry requested judicial authorization for the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) and the Department of High Technology Crimes and Offenses (DICAT) to trace the origin of the dissemination of the videos of the gang rape of Génesis Peña López. The objective is to identify the IP addresses from which the material was shared and proceed to its removal on digital platforms. According to the request, the videos were released in WhatsApp groups of the Villa González community and then spread on social media, causing a national impact. These images, which are part of the evidence against the accused, caused additional psychological damage to the victim.

INACIF and National Police cybersecurity specialists will be tasked with tracking the devices and accounts that played the content, as well as extracting data from the phones seized from the accused. Among the equipment under analysis are a white iPhone 13 and a blue iPhone 12, seized during the arrests. The Public Ministry also seeks to establish additional responsibilities for those who have disseminated the material without authorization, warning that sharing this type of content constitutes a crime under Dominican law. With this measure, the authorities hope to curb the circulation of audiovisual materials and reinforce the investigation, guaranteeing the victim a minimum of reparation for the damage suffered by the public exposure of the crime.
