HATO DEL MEDIO. – Community members of Hato del Medio caught a man red-handed accused of stealing goats from a corral, after several days of surveillance by a rancher who had suffered constant losses.
The individual, caught in the act of theft, confessed to those present that he was selling the animals' meat for 150 pesos per pound, in clandestine transactions carried out under trees and without any type of record or invoice.

During the impromptu interrogation, the accused admitted to having sold several goats, which caused outrage among breeders and residents of the Northwest Line. The ranchers reported that the theft of livestock, especially goats, has become a recurring practice that considerably affects their economy. The affected owner expressed relief at the capture of the alleged thief, assuring that he had been sleepless for weeks to protect his corral. "God takes time, but does not forget," he stated after learning of the detainee's confession. The situation has generated concern in the community, where residents warned that, in addition to economic losses, this type of crime creates a climate of tension and distrust. Likewise, they demanded greater action from the authorities, pointing out that those accused of these robberies are often released easily, which encourages recidivism.
