CEDI Mujer promotes women's labor insertion in the tourism sector

Punta Cana. – The director of CEDI Mujer, Anny Lendor, highlighted that the program “Ser Mujer” has become a space of transformation for dozens of Dominican women seeking to break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability, finding in tourism a real opportunity for economic development. Lendor explained that the project offers more than 50 services in eight areas of exclusive attention for women, from psychological support, integral health and legal guidance, to technical training directly linked to the hotel and restaurant sector.

“We want these women not only to find a job, but to build a life plan. In alliance with Asomahores and the National Institute of Technical Professional Training (Infotep), we have designed a six-month training itinerary that responds to the current needs of the country's hotels and restaurants. Thus, we guarantee that they arrive better prepared and with added value,” he affirmed.

The program has enabled its first graduating class in Santiago to achieve 100% placement in internships within hotels and restaurants. Currently, 50 more women are in training in Santo Domingo Norte and Santiago, with the support of psychologists, social workers, and doctors, which ensures an integral process. You can also read: Lendor said the goal is to expand the program and replicate it in other regions of the country.

“This sector generates more than 750,000 jobs directly and indirectly. If we manage to get more women in vulnerable conditions to access these opportunities, we not only improve their lives and those of their families, we also strengthen tourism with committed and trained personnel,” he/she pointed out.

The official assured that tourism, by opening its doors to inclusion, becomes a driver of social development. "Every woman who enters the workforce energizes the economy of her community. It's not just about a salary, but about breaking down barriers and building a future with dignity."
