Man takes the lives of his wife and mother-in-law and then commits suicide in El Millón

Santo Domingo.- The National Police is investigating the circumstances in which a man took the life of his wife and mother-in-law, and subsequently committed suicide, in an unfortunate event that occurred on the morning of this Sunday in the El Millón sector, of the National District. The deceased are Doris Romero, 86 years old, and her daughter Mayra Martínez Romero, 65, who were found dead in their residence located on Chicago street corner 10, number 18, of the aforementioned sector. Both had gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies.

The alleged perpetrator of the act is Nelson Félix Miranda Hermida, 79 years old, husband of Mayra Martínez, who, after committing the act, shot himself with suicidal intent, dying while receiving medical attention at the Marcelino Vélez Santana Hospital. The causes that originated the tragic event are unknown at this time. Members of the Homicide Investigations Department assumed the corresponding investigations, while the Public Ministry carries out the pertinent proceedings. The National Police deeply regrets this event that grieves a family and reiterates its call for the peaceful resolution of family conflicts, promoting dialogue and seeking professional help in the face of any crisis situation.
