Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), Carlos Bonilla, stated this Monday that the objective of the closures of several Chinese stores is not limited to those businesses, but rather responds to the need to preserve lives and guarantee compliance with the law. During his participation in La Semanal, Bonilla explained that structural failures and construction deficiencies visible at a glance have been detected, so the closures are part of an inspection and control process that applies to all types of establishments.

“We, with those closures, which are not exclusive to Chinese businesses, seek to protect the population and enforce current regulations,” the official highlighted.

Chinese stores to present structural report

Chinese companies affected by the closure will present a structural vulnerability study to the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED), where the real conditions of the physical structures where their businesses operate are evidenced, and the state entity committed to respond within three days to the presented report. Once the results of the same are available, and if it is evident that there is no fault that represents a danger to its operation, then the opening of the commercial establishments will proceed. In addition, any minimal failure that can be determined will be immediately corrected within the agreed deadlines after the report.
