Trump convenes a roundtable on drug cartels and migrant trafficking

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, will participate this Thursday in a round table at the White House with senior officials of his Administration to assess the progress of his strategy against drug cartels and human trafficking networks, Fox News reported this Wednesday. According to the official White House schedule, the event is scheduled in the State Dining Room and includes the annotation that "the president will make an announcement" during the meeting. According to Fox News, the event will serve to "discuss the successes of the National Security Working Groups", which Trump established on January 20, on his first day in office, to "end the threats from criminal cartels in the United States".

The order signed by Trump instructs Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to establish these working groups in each state of the country to dismantle cartels and human trafficking networks. "The National Security Working Groups are a historic achievement that highlights what the federal government can achieve with a leader like President Trump, who is willing to cut red tape, increase coordination, and prioritize the safety of the American people," said White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson to the same media outlet.
