SNS announces opening schedule for the Matías Ramón Mella Hospital in Dajabón

Dajabón. – With the purpose of ensuring an orderly and efficient start-up, the director of the National Health Service (SNS), doctor Julio Landrón, informed that the Matías Ramón Mella Provincial Hospital, handed over to the SNS by the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), for its commissioning, will begin the progressive opening of its services from February 16th. Dr. Landrón highlighted that the residents of Dajabón had been waiting for more than 80 years for a hospital with the necessary conditions to address their health needs in a timely manner, and today President Luis Abinader fulfilled their requirements, delivering a new hospital to dignify the care received by users.

"More than a beautiful building, this will be an establishment where humanized treatment of patients is prioritized, a goal that we have set out to achieve in all hospitals of the Public Network," stated the executive director of the SNS.

The opening schedule contemplates, in a first phase, the habilitation of the areas of external consultations, as well as the services of Images and Laboratory, which will allow to begin to offer outpatient care and diagnostic support to the population of the province and nearby communities.

Subsequently, on March 9, the Emergency services, hospitalization, operating rooms, and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) will become operational, significantly expanding the center's response capacity to situations of greater clinical complexity. The opening will conclude on April 6 with the activation of the Hemodialysis Unit and the rest of the hospital services, thus completing the integral operability of this modern health infrastructure. "This phased process has been designed to ensure that each area has trained personnel, adequate equipment, and the necessary protocols, guaranteeing safe care. Furthermore, it will allow the entire network of Primary Care Units in the province to be articulated by strengthening the referral and counter-referral program, ensuring that patients treated in this hospital receive the proper follow-up in their respective units of origin," stated the head of the SNS. The delivery and commissioning of the Matías Ramón Mella Provincial Hospital is part of the actions promoted by the Government to improve access to decent health services in the border provinces.
