Santo Domingo.- A construction worker identified as Omar Batista died after falling from a tower under construction located on Fredy Prestol Castillo street, in the Piantini sector, in the National District.
According to the testimony of a relative of the victim, the accident occurred amid strong gusts of wind. The deceased's uncle assured that, although the work had been stopped due to the intensity of the breeze, "Omar Batista was not notified", despite the fact that he was working outside the building. You may be interested in: Woman dies after being run over by a jeep in Santiago
For his part, a worker on the construction site indicated that it was a work accident, noting that Batista was on one of the upper levels of the building when the fall occurred."It was their negligence because if this type of breeze is happening to that magnitude, they should have warned him, informed him," expressed the family member, who held the company responsible for what happened.
A witness also confirmed that the victim was on a high floor of the building at the time of the incident. After the event, the site was cordoned off while the corresponding authorities carried out the investigations to determine the exact causes of the accident and establish possible responsibilities. In the video released of the event, family members and coworkers are seen visibly affected by the tragedy."Surely it was the breeze that moved it. It seems it wasn't very secure," he commented.
