Arizona.- The family of Savannah Guthrie, renowned television presenter of NBC, offered this Saturday to pay for the safe return of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84 years old, after a week without news since her disappearance on the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona.

In a video shared on social media, Guthrie pleaded with the alleged kidnappers: “We beg you to return our mother so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will regain peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay”, she stated, accompanied by her siblings. Authorities believe Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her home in the Catalina Foothills area last weekend. AP reported that initial investigations confirmed the presence of blood on the porch, identified as belonging to the victim, which has reinforced the hypothesis of a kidnapping. According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, the search has the collaboration of the FBI, although to date no suspects have been identified nor has any line of investigation been ruled out. In recent days, the Guthrie family received messages from the alleged kidnappers. A local Tucson television station confirmed to AP the receipt of an email linked to the case, the content of which was not revealed. The FBI is reviewing the veracity of the message, in addition to investigating other ransom letters sent to the media, which include monetary demands and deadlines; the first deadline expired on Thursday and there is another one set for Monday. The investigation faces technical complications. The home video surveillance system of Nancy Guthrie, including the doorbell camera, did not record images on the day she disappeared due to the lack of an active subscription, although the software detected movement minutes after disconnection. Sheriff Nanos expressed to AP his frustration with the technology, as they hoped to obtain decisive images, but it was not possible to recover useful material.

The health of Nancy Guthrie increases the concern of those around her. The victim depends on a pacemaker and needs daily medication to treat heart problems and hypertension. The authorities do not know if she has been able to get her medication after the disappearance, which represents an added risk as the days go by. The case has shaken the local community. The Catalina Foothills Association sent a letter to residents, thanking them for their collaboration with the authorities and their willingness to share camera images or allow searches on private properties. At the national level, President Donald Trump declared from Air Force One that the investigation was going "very well", with strong leads and the expectation of possible developments soon. The authorities are restricting access to the disappearance zone, prioritizing investigations. Neighbors and family members maintain hope and reiterate their willingness to dialogue with the kidnappers, demanding signs of life from Nancy Guthrie. As time goes on without a response, uncertainty increases about Nancy Guthrie's medical situation due to the possible lack of her medication, which could worsen her condition, Sheriff Nanos warned to AP.
