Bella Vista and Mirador Rotary Clubs promote critical thinking with a masterful conference by analyst Iván Gatón

In an effort to promote responsible analysis and critical thinking in society, the Rotary Santo Domingo Bella Vista and Rotary Santo Domingo Mirador clubs held a master conference by the renowned international analyst and academic Iván Gatón, bringing together Rotarians, special guests, and citizens interested in understanding the challenges of the current geopolitical scenario. The activity brought together Rotarian friends from different clubs and representatives from various sectors of Dominican society, in a space for reflection where the changes that mark the international dynamics and their impact on the region were addressed. During his presentation, Professor Gatón offered a deep analysis of contemporary geopolitical reality, guiding attendees on the importance of understanding global events to strengthen an informed and conscious citizenry.

The president of the Santo Domingo Bella Vista Rotary Club, Rita Soriano, highlighted the value of generating this type of meeting within the spirit of Rotary. "Today we are gathered as conscious citizens, as men and women who understand that serving is not only giving, but also understanding. Rotary transforms communities, yes, but it also transforms consciences," Soriano expressed. For his part, Pedro Vargas, president of the Rotary Club Santo Domingo Mirador, highlighted the importance of collaboration between clubs to promote initiatives that promote knowledge and constructive dialogue within society. The organizers expressed special thanks to Professor Iván Gatón for his willingness and support for these types of initiatives that contribute to raising the level of public debate and strengthening the culture of knowledge. During the meeting, one of the phrases of the founder of Rotary, Paul Harris, which summarizes the spirit of the organization, was also remembered:
“Whatever Rotary means to us, it will be known to the world by the results it achieves.” With activities like this, Rotary clubs continue to reaffirm their commitment to the promotion of knowledge, peace, responsible leadership, and the development of a more conscious and participatory society.
