Santo Domingo. – The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), doctor Julio Landrón, announced this Thursday that 8 hospitals have been equipped with modern dental and panoramic tomographs that will come to raise the quality and precision of diagnoses and specialized odontological studies. The SNS head made the announcement at the presentation of a dental and panoramic tomograph at the Specialized Center for Ambulatory Health Care (CEASNA), in the Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City, a technology that will revolutionize dental diagnoses with high-precision 3D images. Doctor Julio Landrón highlighted that never before had the Public Health Network had dental tomographs and specified that with these latest deliveries, the number of hospitals equipped with modern specialized equipment totals eight, delivered through the Dentistry Department of the SNS, headed by Doctor Mario Bournigal.

So far, tomographs have been delivered to the José María Cabral y Báez University Regional Hospital in Santiago; Ricardo Limardo Hospital, of Puerto Plata; in the Luis Eduardo Aybar Health City, and Padre Fantino Hospital, of Monte Cristi. Tomographs will be delivered soon at the Inmaculada Concepción Hospital, in Cotuí, and at the Jaime Mota Hospital, in Barahona. In addition, the delivery of panoramic equipment is planned at the Monte Cristi Hospital, and at the Dr. Francisco Moscoso Puello Hospital. The tomographs that have been installed to raise the quality of dental care at the national level will be used in the areas of dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, and otolaryngology, improving the diagnosis and detection of tumor lesions, fractures, bone reabsorptions, and other conditions. The total investment in these 8 pieces of equipment, 6 tomographs and two panoramic, exceeds RD$63 million. The modern equipment was recently delivered to the Specialized Center for Outpatient Health Care (CEASNA), located in the Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar Sanitary City, and in other hospitals of the Public Network. On his part, Dr. Mario Bournigal highlighted that these actions position oral health as a governmental priority, through the implementation of a program that emphasizes prevention. During the day, the director of the SNS delivered a dental and panoramic tomograph to the Specialized Center for Ambulatory Health Care (CEASNA), technology that will revolutionize dental diagnoses with high-precision 3D images. The new dental tomograph generates detailed 3D images of teeth, bones, and mouth structures using controlled X-rays, allowing clear observation of problems that common X-rays do not detect. This facilitates quick decision-making for safer and more effective treatments in oral health. This technology offers more precise diagnoses through high-resolution 3D images, effective planning of personalized treatments, less radiation exposure compared to traditional X-rays, and better communication with patients, which strengthens trust in the health center. It also allows for specialized studies in implantology (bone assessment for implants), orthodontics (structural analysis), endodontics (pulp problems), oral surgery, diagnosis of bone pathologies (cysts and tumors), and assessment of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The installation of the new equipment will improve care with precise and early diagnoses, more effective treatments that reduce time and visits, less discomfort by avoiding multiple X-rays, and greater satisfaction thanks to advanced technology and personalized attention.
