Santo Domingo.- Communicator Zoila Puello shared the deep pain that overwhelms her heart after the death of the renowned journalist Carlos Batista Matos, whom she defined as a determining figure in her personal and professional life. Puello recalled that, upon her arrival in Santo Domingo, it was Batista who opened the doors for her in the media, giving her opportunities that marked the beginning of her career.
“I feel a deep pain because Carlos Batista was the person who gave me the tools when I arrived in the field without knowing anything. He was a teacher not only for me, but for an entire generation of journalists,” she expressed, visibly moved. The communicator also highlighted the human and professional quality of the veteran communicator, whom she described as “an excellent reference, a very cultured and talented man.” Puello also evoked the unique style that characterized Batista, highlighting his ability to connect with the public. "He wrote like the angels and created a character to win hearts on television. He managed to bring a smile to the Dominican people, people watched him to laugh and enjoy," he stated. In his testimony, he recalled details that reflected the communicator's personality, such as his taste for elegance and his charisma on screen. We recommend reading: Sergio Vargas highlights Carlos Batista Matos' legacy and calls him “irreplaceable”
On a personal level, the communicator assured that the relationship transcended the professional, being a support for both her and her family. “Carlos Batista is like a brother to me. He was always supportive, a friend to his friends. Although the pace of the media sometimes didn't allow it, he always called me to check on me, he would say: “woman, are you alive”, she recounted. She added that the news of his death took her by surprise while she was in the middle of a live broadcast of her program, generating an impact that, she said, has been widespread in Dominican society.
Finally, it was reported that the funeral acts of the outstanding communicator continue this Thursday with a mass with the body present, after which he will presumably be transferred to the Boulevard of the Stars for a farewell ceremony, before receiving Christian burial.
