President leads opening of the 2026 Rice Harvest in Monseñor Nouel

By: "Daniel Reyes" Monseñor Nouel.- The constitutional president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, led this Sunday the opening ceremony of the 2026 Rice Harvest, during a visit to the experimental field of Rice Development, located in the district of Juma Bejucal, in Bonao, as part of the Bioarroz RD project. During his speech, the president reaffirmed the government's commitment to guarantee quality food on the table of the Dominican people, highlighting the strategic importance of the rice sector in the national economy. Within the framework of the activity, it was reported that this year's harvest projects a production exceeding 4.5 million quintals, consolidating the Dominican Republic as the largest rice producer in the Caribbean and Central America. This result represents a significant advance in strengthening food security, while contributing to price stability in the market and supporting the livelihood of thousands of agricultural producers throughout the national territory.

The event was attended by provincial governor Adela Tejada, the mayor of Bonao Eberto Núñez, as well as government authorities, representatives of the agricultural sector and rice producers, who valued the continuous support provided by the current administration to the development of the Dominican countryside. Furthermore, the impact of initiatives such as Bioarroz RD was highlighted, aimed at innovation, sustainability, and increased agricultural productivity, thus strengthening the growth of the sector and ensuring the country's food self-sufficiency. The conference reaffirms the Dominican government's commitment to continue promoting public policies that promote agricultural development, competitiveness, and the well-being of rural communities.
