Government sacrifices itself with RD$1,143.9 million subsidy despite the crisis

Jet fuel and kerosene decrease significantly for the second consecutive week, benefiting the tourism, logistics, and industrial sectors. Santo Domingo. – Despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and its effect on international oil prices and their derivatives, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) reported that the Dominican Government, through a subsidy of RD$1,143.9 million, will keep frozen the five most consumed fuels and has reductions in others for the second consecutive week, for the period from April 25 to May 1, 2026. For the aforementioned period, premium and regular gasoline, optimal and regular diesel, as well as LPG and natural gas will remain unchanged in their prices. While jet fuel drops about RD$13.21 this week, after having dropped RD$38.66 the previous week, benefiting passenger and cargo transport by air, as it is the fuel used by this means. Likewise, kerosene drops this week by about RD$15.10, after having dropped RD$41.90 the previous week, a fuel also used in aviation and in industries. The amount per gallon of fuel that the State is subsidizing to avoid passing on the increases in the international price to consumers this week is RD$14.63 on LPG, RD$40.85 on premium gasoline, RD$51.41 on regular gasoline, RD$73.69 on regular diesel and RD$81.91 on optimal diesel. Without the Government's effort, these amounts would be added to said fuels.

For the week of April 25 to May 1, 2026, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and SMEs stipulates that fuels be sold at the following prices:
  • Premium Gasoline will be sold at RD$314.10 per gallon (price remains the same).
  • Regular Gasoline at RD$294.50 per gallon (price remains the same).
  • Regular Gasoil at RD$246.80 per gallon (price remains the same).
  • Optimum Gasoil at RD$266.10 per gallon (price remains the same).
  • Avtur at RD$305.44 per gallon (decreases RD$13.21).
  • Kerosene at RD$344.90 per gallon (decreases RD$15.10).
  • Fuel Oil #6 at RD$184.46 per gallon (increases RD$1.48).
  • Fuel Oil 1%S at RD$208.01 per gallon (increases RD$1.95).
  • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at RD$137.20 per gallon (price remains the same).
  • Natural Gas at RD$43.97 per m³ (price remains the same).
The average weekly exchange rate is RD$60.50, according to the daily publications of the Central Bank. This rate registered a slight increase compared to the previous week, when it was RD$60.44.
