Mexico.-A new pre-Hispanic settlement of great relevance has been identified in the south of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, after being registered by the National Institute of Anthropology and History based on a citizen report in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
The site, called 'El Jefecito', stands out for housing around 80 structures and was documented within the framework of the Archaeological Rescue Project of the Mayan Train. According to specialists, the city presents characteristics of the Petén architectural style, with vaulted buildings, rounded corners, and distinctive ornamental elements.
