DR will host the main energy meeting in Latin America and the Caribbean in November

The Dominican Republic continues to accelerate preparations for the celebration of the XI Energy Week 2026, the main energy event in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will make Santo Domingo the regional epicenter of discussions on innovation, energy transition, sustainability, and energy security.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, stated that coordination and organizational work is progressing so that the Dominican capital will be transformed during those days into the "capital of energy", receiving authorities, business leaders, experts, multilateral organizations, and representatives of the energy sector from the entire region.

"We are working to make Santo Domingo a great regional stage for the exchange of ideas, the strengthening of alliances, and the construction of solutions that drive the energy future of Latin America and the Caribbean. It will be an opportunity to showcase the capacity of our country and its leadership in energy matters," said Santos.

The official highlighted that the celebration of the event constitutes a strategic platform to project the advances achieved by the Dominican Republic in the diversification of the energy matrix, expansion of renewable energies, strengthening of the electrical infrastructure and development of initiatives linked to energy security and new technologies.

The Energy Week brings together ministers from the 27 member countries of the Latin American Energy Organization (Olacde), along with companies, international organizations, academic centers, and key players in the sector, consolidating itself as the main regional space for political and strategic dialogue on energy matters.

Likewise, the minister highlighted that the celebration of this meeting will strengthen the country's international positioning, open up new investment and cooperation opportunities, and allow for the promotion of key discussions on energy storage, digitalization, artificial intelligence applied to the sector, and a just energy transition.

With the advancement of preparations, Santo Domingo is preparing to become not only the venue for an international event, but also the meeting point where the decisions that will shape the energy future of the region will be discussed.
