Santo Domingo.– Starting Sunday, August 3rd, and as part of the third phase of implementation of the traffic management plan “RD Se Mueve”, drivers will have restrictions on left turns at strategic intersections in Greater Santo Domingo. This initiative by the Transportation Cabinet seeks to optimize vehicle circulation, reduce travel times, and reinforce road safety in high-traffic areas. The previous phases, applied on Lope de Vega and Tiradentes avenues, have been continuously monitored, recording a reduction of more than 30% in travel times during the current school holiday period.

These results support the effectiveness of the interventions implemented and motivate the expansion of the measures towards new critical points. The Phase III contemplates interventions in five new intersections:
  • Av. Abraham Lincoln with Víctor Garrido Puello street
  • Av. Abraham Lincoln with Andrés Julio Aybar street
  • Av. Máximo Gómez with Pedro Livio Cedeño avenue
  • Av. Winston Churchill with José Amado Soler street
  • Av. Winston Churchill with Roberto Pastoriza avenue
To ensure smooth traffic flow, specific alternate routes have been defined for each intersection: At the intersection of Av. Abraham Lincoln–Víctor Garrido Puello, where turning northeast will be restricted, drivers must continue south, turn right onto Av. Roberto Pastoriza, take Federico Geraldino street, and finally access Víctor Garrido Puello street. In the case of the intersection Av. Abraham Lincoln–Andrés Julio Aybar, also with restriction in the northeast direction, it is recommended to continue south, make a U-turn on Rafael Augusto Sánchez street and then turn right on Andrés Julio Aybar street. In Av. Máximo Gómez with Pedro Livio Cedeño, where the northeast turn will be eliminated, the suggested route is to continue south, turn right onto Alexander Fleming street, then onto Ramón Cáceres street and finally rejoin Ave. Pedro Livio Cedeño. For the intersection of Av. Winston Churchill with José Amado Soler street, with a restriction on the southwest turn, drivers must continue north, turn right onto Francisco Carias Lavander street, then onto Manuel de Jesús Troncoso street, and finally onto José Amado Soler street. Finally, at the intersection of Av. Winston Churchill–Roberto Pastoriza, also with a restriction on the southwest turn, you must turn right onto Víctor Garrido Puello street, then onto Manuel de Jesús Troncoso street, and end on Av. Roberto Pastoriza. With this new phase, the Transportation Cabinet reaffirms its commitment to the execution of sustainable actions aimed at improving urban mobility and offering a safer, more orderly, and efficient road environment for all citizens of Greater Santo Domingo.
