Santo Domingo.- The Santiago Prosecutor's Office informed this Friday the provisional closure of the recreation center África Park, located in the municipal district of Santiago Oeste, after last Monday a 5-year-old boy drowned in one of its pools.
After the inspection carried out by the prosecutors, accompanied by members of the Civil Defense, the National Police and the Ministry of Public Health, the establishment was closed, where it was verified that it lacks safety measures, in addition to the health risk posed by the water they use in the pools, according to prosecutor Yeilín Durán, director of the Department of Physical Violence, of the Santiago Prosecutor's Office.

Following the removal of the child's body, the corresponding surveys were carried out, determining that the place does not comply with the safety and health measures established by the operating protocol, according to a statement from the Public Ministry. It also lacks trained and qualified personnel to respond to any emergencies that may occur.
