Baby's mother stabbed in Villa Rivas withdraws complaint; MP maintains charges against the accused

Duarte. – The mother of the 11-month-old baby who received more than 100 stab wounds, in the municipality of Villa Rivas, withdrew the complaint against her partner, identified as the perpetrator of the brutal assault. Yisleidy Rosario Castillo assured that her sentimental partner, Wilker Peña Mota, acted under the effects of a substance that was allegedly supplied to him in an entertainment center. As Rosario explained, the accused had never shown violent behavior, so what happened surprised the whole family.

However, despite the withdrawal of the complaint, the Public Ministry informed that it will continue with the prosecution of the case due to the victim's defenseless state. The prosecution is requesting preventive detention as a coercive measure against Peña Mota. The judicial process, which is in the stage of knowing coercive measures, was postponed until this Thursday after the recusal of the judge of Permanent Attention presented by the defense of the accused. The Court of Appeals of Duarte province must first hear that request before the hearing is held, scheduled for 9:00 in the morning.
