Santo Domingo.– The director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez García, announced this Friday the launch of the "Conscience for Life, Holy Week 2026" operation, with the purpose of preventing incidents during the Holy Week holiday and preserving the lives of citizens who will travel to different parts of the country.
During a press conference led by the Minister of Interior and Police, the authorities informed that the operation will begin on Thursday, April 2nd at 2:00 PM and will extend until Sunday, April 5th at 6:00 PM. Méndez García explained that the operation will focus on reducing events associated with drowning, traffic accidents, alcohol intoxication, and food poisoning, through preventive and rapid response actions.“Holy Week is a time for reflection, family unity, and restraint to preserve lives,” expressed the official, while urging the population to act responsibly during the holiday.
He detailed that, along with the members of the 22 institutions that make up the organization, work is being done on the implementation of strategic measures to respond to any emergency that may arise during the displacement of citizens to the interior of the country. "We are preparing to respond efficiently to the emergencies that the population may present during the enjoyment of Holy Week and in this way reduce the figures of incidents and fatalities from previous years," said Méndez García.
