Santo Domingo. – Former Major League Baseball player and Dominican public figure David Ortiz made a firm call this Sunday for unity and citizen action in the face of allegations of alleged embezzlement and abuse affecting the National Health Insurance (SENASA), a situation that, according to him, directly impacts millions of Dominicans.
Ortiz stated that the country cannot remain indifferent to events that affect the most vulnerable sectors of society, pointing out that corruption erodes the dignity and fundamental rights of the population.
"All those fallen, those affected, and we as a country, must become one voice. We cannot allow corrupt politicians and businessmen to continue taking away what belongs to us as people and as a nation," expressed David Ortiz.
The former player highlighted that more than seven million Dominicans depend on the public health system and that any irregularity in its management represents a direct attack against the life and social stability of the country.
"This abuse has to stop. There are millions of people suffering while justice remains silent. Stealing from the neediest has no justification or forgiveness," he stated.
