Santo Domingo. - The social communicator Estarlyn Carela Morillo, in the exercise of his informative functions, made direct contact with Dr. Daniel Alcántara, provincial health director of Samaná, with the aim of officially verifying the facts related to the food poisoning that recently occurred in the beach area of Rincón de Las Galeras.
After corroborating the information with the Provincial Health Directorate, it is emphatically clarified that this incident has no relation whatsoever to the restaurants, local kitchens, or the Association of Vendors in the area.
The affected people, from the municipality of Monte Plata, brought their own prepared food, specifically pork, from their place of origin.
Consumption of said meat during a tourist tour would have caused the symptoms of discomfort that led to medical attention at the Dr. Alberto Gautreaux Hospital in Sánchez, where they were assisted and subsequently discharged.
"This is an isolated incident and does not compromise food safety or the reputation of the gastronomic establishments in Las Galeras. The meat was brought by the excursionists themselves from Monte Plata," confirmed Dr. Alcántara.
The Provincial Health Directorate urges citizens to maintain confidence in the tourist and food services of Las Galeras, recognized for their quality, hygiene, and commitment to visitors.
Likewise, the importance of properly handling and preserving food during recreational activities is reminded, especially when transporting it from other locations.
