Ideice launches the fifth edition of “Know Your Region by Investigating” and will fund 130 studies on the educational reality of the country

Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Institute for Evaluation and Research of Educational Quality (Ideice) announced this Tuesday the opening of the fifth edition of the program “Know Your Regional Investigating” (CTRI), an initiative that promotes educational research from schools, districts and regional schools, with the purpose of strengthening the quality of the national education system. The announcement was led by Dr. Jesús Andújar Avilés, executive director of Ideice, who informed that in this new call, 130 investigations will be financed, prepared by teachers, district and regional technicians, with the aim of generating evidence to guide decision-making and the design of more effective public policies in the educational field. "With this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to evidence-based, rigorous, and relevant education, which allows us to improve pedagogical practices and institutional management throughout the country," expressed Dr. Andújar Avilés during the launch event. The event featured the participation of Adrián Gutiérrez, head of Research at Ideice; regional directors Dominga Mosquea (10) and Eddy Chávez (15); and researcher Joanny Polanco, head of the program. Open call and new training opportunities The call will be open from October 14 to November 28, 2025, and those interested can consult the terms and conditions on the institutional portal (www.ideice.gob.do) or join the official WhatsApp group of the program, where they will receive assistance and guidance during the application process. As a novelty, Ideice announced the holding of an induction day from October 16 to 27, aimed at new applicants, in order to strengthen their methodological skills and ensure the quality of research proposals. Educational research with national impact Dr. Andújar Avilés highlighted that the proposals should be aligned with the five institutional research lines of Ideice, oriented to the current challenges of the educational system and the priority needs of each regional. The head of Ideice also emphasized that the program is framed within the main planning instruments of the country, such as General Education Law 66-97, the National Development Strategy 2030, the National Pact for Education Reform 2014–2030, the Horizon Plan 2034, and the Institutional Strategic Plan 2025–2030. Since its pilot implementation in 2022, "Know Your Region by Investigating" has generated 94 investigations and, under the current management initiated in 2024, 100 projects have been approved in 2025, with a goal of 130 studies for next year, reflecting the program's sustained growth and its impact on educational communities.

María Genao Beras, director of the Technological Institute of Arts and Trades of the National District, and Moisés Martínez Brito, from the Santa Martha Educational Center, agreed that the program has strengthened their research capacities and transformed their teaching practices, directly benefiting their students and communities. At the activity, held in the Ideice Conference Hall, officials from the institution, CTRI advisors such as César Jiménez, Wilfredo Rosario and Hugo Santana, and representatives from regions 10 and 15 of Greater Santo Domingo attended.
