In Santiago, "Wally" is arrested, accused of the death of a Venezuelan woman; he had four records for homicide, drugs, and weapons

Santiago.– The National Police reported this Thursday the arrest and referral to justice of Waldyn Ricardo Ureña, alias “Wally” and/or “W”, identified as one of the alleged responsible for the death of the Venezuelan citizen María Isamar Villasmil Atencio, which occurred in March 2025 in the Las Charcas sector, in this city.

The arrest took place in compliance with arrest warrant No. 2025-AJ0023116, as part of the follow-up to the investigations of the case. Ureña will be presented before the Public Ministry for the knowledge of coercive measures in the coming hours.

According to the official report, the defendant allegedly participated, along with Amauris Antonio Almonte and Elías Enmanuel Díaz, alias "Nono" —both already brought to justice—, in the event in which Villasmil Atencio, 28 years old, a resident of the Los Álamos sector, lost his life due to gunshot wounds. In the same incident, Denni José Caraballo Calderón, 35 years old, was injured. The crime was recorded on March 21, 2025, in the Las Charcas sector, generating consternation among residents of the area.

Criminal Record

Upon being reviewed in police files, "Wally" is listed with four records for alleged violations of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances and Law 36 on Carrying and Possession of Weapons, as well as for homicide, murder, association of wrongdoers, and motorcycle theft, according to the law enforcement institution. The National Police reiterated that it will continue working in a coordinated manner with the Public Ministry to clarify the facts and bring those responsible before the courts. The case will be heard by the competent judicial authorities, while the victim's family and local residents hope that the process will move forward and criminal responsibilities will be established.
