Man arrested for causing the death of a dog after throwing it from the 11th floor of a tower

Santo Domingo,.- The Public Ministry reported today the arrest of a man who threw a dog from the eleventh floor of a tower in the capital, which died upon impact with a vehicle.

The defendant, Michael Williams, was arrested during the investigation carried out by the Public Ministry, through the National Animal Protection Link and the National District Attorney's Office, with the support of the Animal Protection Department of the National Police.

The investigation allowed to obtain sufficient evidence to reasonably maintain that on the night of July 11th, the accused threw a live dog from the 11th floor C of the Villa Palmeras XXII Tower, in the Bella Vista sector, of the National District.

The file indicates that the animal died after hitting the hood of a Chevrolet vehicle, red in color, owned by Daniel Fernando Batista.

The vehicle sustained visible damage, according to images and videos collected as part of the investigation.

The Public Ministry announced that Williams will be brought before the Justice in the coming hours to determine coercive measures, consisting of preventive detention, for engaging in animal cruelty in violation of the Animal Protection and Responsible Ownership Law (Law 248-12).
