Santo Domingo.– The number of complaints and denunciations against the entrepreneurs Antonio and Maribel Espaillat continues to rise. According to a source from the National District Attorney's Office, there are already 108 legal actions filed against them for the tragedy that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub, where on April 8, 236 people died and more than 180 were injured after the collapse of the establishment's roof.
Among the most recent complaints are those filed by Casiey Aileen Pérez Lebrón and Ana Beatriz Pérez Reynoso, daughters of the renowned merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who also died in the accident. In support of her nieces, Representative Lidia Pérez, the artist's sister, stated that the family is firm in its decision to seek justice. "We are going to go to the ultimate consequences. This tragedy cannot go unpunished," she declared. Both Antonio and Maribel Espaillat are charged with involuntary manslaughter. The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested pre-trial detention for Antonio and house arrest for Maribel, while the investigation progresses, which also contemplates possible structural negligence and failures in the operating permits of the premises.
