Mother cries out for justice for the murder of her son in Azua; accuses three men of acting with total impunity

Santo Domingo.- With tears in her eyes and a voice broken by pain, Mrs. María Miguelina Segura Silverio appeared this morning at the editorial office of De Último Minuto to denounce a case she calls an “act of impunity” and to ask for justice for the death of her son, José Luis Sención Segura, who was murdered on August 13, 2021, in the municipality of Peralta, Azua.

According to the mother's testimony, her 33-year-old son was shot while working around 3:00 in the afternoon. The perpetrators, she claims, were three individuals: Starlin Díaz Pérez, identified as the main perpetrator, his nephew Keudis Díaz Pérez, a resident of Spain, who allegedly traveled specifically to the country to participate in the crime, and Starlin's son, known as “Masamorra”, who supposedly gave the exact location of the victim before the attack.

“My son was at work, he owed nothing to anyone. These three men arrived and killed him in cold blood, without saying a single word. I saw him die, fall on the pavement as if he were an animal. They left me with a broken soul and his two orphaned children,” María Miguelina recounted through sobs.

According to the woman, her son had previous conflicts with Starlin Díaz Pérez due to a love affair that José Luis had with a stepdaughter of the alleged killer. That situation would have generated a deep enmity between the two, with multiple previous altercations.

Starlin was making fun, saying that he slapped my son and that he didn't do anything. But one day José Luis defended himself, he also slapped him and said "we're even". And from then on that's what sealed his death sentence", the mother assured.

Almost four years after the homicide, María Miguelina denounces that the authorities have not made progress in the case.

“Every time I go to the prosecutor's office they tell me they are working on it, but those murderers are still free, walking around Azua as if nothing happened. Where is justice? Where are the authorities?” she asks with desperation.

The woman calls on the competent authorities and the citizenry to not allow this crime to go unpunished. She asks for help so that the case can move forward and the perpetrators can be apprehended.

Those who wish to collaborate or provide information that may help clarify the case can contact Mrs. María Miguelina Segura Silverio at the number 829-302-3437, or her niece Fernanda Soriano at 849-372-0516.
