Santo Domingo.- With a heart full of anguish, Nelsida Castillo Cuello, mother of Aquileidy Castillo, a 10-year-old girl diagnosed with acute leukemia, makes an urgent call for solidarity to obtain a platelet transfusion by apheresis, vital for her daughter, who is currently admitted to the Robert Reid Cabral children's hospital.
“More than many things, her health interests me. Right now I left her alone because I am on the street looking for help. I need you to support me with platelets or with some type of food that can benefit her,” expressed Mrs. Castillo with a choked voice.
“Right now she's hospitalized and needs that platelet transfusion to keep fighting,” the mother reiterated, visibly upset.
For four months, mother and daughter moved to Santo Domingo from their community of origin, Vicente Noble, in search of specialized care. Their daily struggle for Aquileidy's health now depends on the generosity of those who can lend a hand.
The situation they are going through reflects the harsh reality that many Dominican families face in the face of serious illnesses, without sufficient resources to cope with them. Therefore, Nelsida calls on both the authorities and the general public to provide the support they so desperately need.
