Peruvian generated false bomb threat that forced operations to be stopped at the AILA, says the MP

Writing.- The Public Ministry requested 12 months of preventive detention against the Peruvian citizen Ángel del Pino Cuya, accused of generating a false air security alarm that forced the temporary suspension of operations at Las Américas International Airport (AILA). The event, which occurred on January 6, activated the terminal's emergency protocols.

As a result of the investigation, in coordination with the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), the accused was located and arrested in the Los Girasoles sector of the National District, where evidence linked to the events he is accused of was seized, which has been incorporated into the file.

According to the investigation, the defendant made a phone call to Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom), alerting about the alleged presence of an explosive device on Copa Airlines flight CM-299, bound for Panama, at a time when the aircraft was already in flight with passengers and crew on board. The warning forced the established protocols to be activated, including the return of the aircraft, security inspection, and preventive measures that led to the temporary interruption of operations and the diversion of flights to other terminals in the country.
