Monte Plata.– Residents of the communities of Pulgarín and El Guanito, in the municipality of Bayaguana, made an urgent call to the central government and local authorities to prioritize the construction of a road, a drinking water aqueduct and a bridge over the Capita River, works they consider vital for the development of the area.
The community members reported that the poor condition of the local roads prevents agricultural producers from transporting their harvests to the markets, which seriously affects their economy and limits growth opportunities.
They also expressed their concern about the situation faced by students, who have to walk long distances in precarious conditions to attend classes. "The children arrive with their shoes full of mud and often have to return home because they cannot cross the river when it rises", said one of the community leaders.

The lack of an aqueduct also represents a serious public health problem, as families must resort to water sources not suitable for human consumption, which increases the risk of disease. Residents ask the President of the Republic and the Ministry of Public Works to listen to their plea and approach the community to learn firsthand about the difficulties they face. “We want development, not handouts. We are only asking for what is fair: roads, potable water, and a bridge that guarantees our safety and well-being”, they concluded.
