Santo Domingo.- The Office for the Reordering of Transportation (Opret) announced today that on Monday, July 21, the Santo Domingo metro service will resume as usual at the elevated stations of Villa Mella, from Mamá Tingó to Hermanas Mirabal, using 3-car trains.
The entity recalled in a note that the incorporation of 6-car trains will take place in August, once the ongoing technical phase is completed. The companies Hitachi and Siemens will be delivering the final works on July 31, giving way to the corresponding international certification stage. During this closure, the opportunity has also been taken to reconfigure the turnstile system at the Peña Gómez, Gregorio Luperón and Gregorio Urbano Gilbert stations, moving them to the entrances, as already happens at Mamá Tingó. This measure seeks to speed up user access, especially during peak hours. The Opret reiterated that, regarding the service interruption at the elevated stations of Metro Line 1, the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA) has provided free buses for metro users to make the round trip between those stations. The organization said it "deeply" thanks the citizenry for their understanding and civility during these days of work.Santo Domingo's subway service resumes operations on Monday in Villa Mella
