Santiago.– A strong wind recorded on Tuesday afternoon affected several locations in Santiago, resulting in multiple fallen trees, as well as damage to vehicles and homes, according to the national subdirector of Civil Defense, Francisco Arias.
Arias indicated that, according to the established protocol, preliminary evaluations were carried out to prepare a report on the damage caused by the phenomenon. Among the affected sectors are the Joaquin Balaguer highway, San Francisco de Jacagua, Suelo Duro, Navarrete, the municipal district of La Canela, Licey, Tamboril, Puñal, among other areas. So far, the relief organization has not received reports of injured people. Francisco Arias pointed out that the fall of trees also caused damage to electrical and telephone wiring in several of the affected places. In addition to Santiago, the strong wind caused damage in provinces of the Northwest Line, such as Santiago Rodríguez, Montecristi, and Dajabón.
