Monte Plata, R.D. – This Thursday afternoon, the collapse of the bridge that links the municipality of Yamasá with the municipal district of Don Juan was recorded, leaving as a result the death of a man identified as Pablito Díaz, driver of a truck that fell into the river along with the structure.
According to reports, Díaz's body was recovered from the waters by members of the Civil Defense near 2:30 p.m., after intense rescue efforts. Units from the National Emergency System 9-1-1 also attended the scene, offering support in the operation.

The collapse of the bridge has generated great concern among residents, as it keeps several rural communities isolated, hindering access to health centers, schools, and points of commerce in the province of Monte Plata. Local authorities have described the situation as an emergency requiring a prompt response, due to the extent of the isolation faced by families in the area. At the same time, community leaders have called on the Government to intervene immediately with temporary road solutions and the reconstruction of the collapsed structure. The event has highlighted the state of vulnerability of several infrastructures in the region, which has revived demands for safer and more resilient public works, capable of withstanding inclement weather and constant vehicular traffic.
