A 5.2-magnitude earthquake shakes Iran without any damage reported

Tehran.- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake shook the central Iranian region of Semnan this Friday, with no damage or casualties reported so far.

The tremor occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. GMT) in the center of the country and was felt in the cities of Qom and Tehran, reported Press TV. Iran has high seismic activity and numerous earthquakes are recorded. The most serious to date occurred in December 2003 and June 1990, when 31,000 and 37,000 people lost their lives, respectively.

In November 2017, a 7.3-magnitude earthquake caused 620 deaths and more than 12,000 injuries in the northwestern province of Kermanshah.
