Paris.- Much of central France, including the Paris area, is on red alert this Tuesday due to the high temperatures, which will rise to 41 degrees in some places on a day that will be the peak of the current heat wave for the country.
"This Tuesday will be the hottest day of this heatwave, with temperatures between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius in the departments on orange alert and with some peaks of 40-41 degrees, especially in the departments on red alert, as well as near the Mediterranean", indicated the public meteorological service Météo-France. In total, of the hundred departments of the metropolitan territory, there are 16 on red alert, concentrated in the center, and 68 on orange watch. Some 1,350 public schools (about 3% of the whole country) have closed their doors completely or partially, compared to 750 yesterday, according to data collected by the local press, and the Government has asked that precautions against the heat be increased. The Eiffel Tower has also been affected by the heatwave, as the closure of its top floor - the third level, located 276 meters high - to visitors was decided from Monday afternoon until July 2nd. "Everyone, not just vulnerable people, should be careful," noted Minister of Labor, Health and Solidarity, Catherine Vautrin, in an interview on the TF1 television channel, where she admitted that today's day is going to be difficult. In that same message, Prime Minister François Bayrou emphasized during a visit this Tuesday to the Interministerial Crisis Management Operational Center (COGIC) along with Vautrin and the French Interior Minister, Bruno Retailleau. From there, Bayrou explained that, despite the intense heat, "for the moment, there is only a slight increase in emergency hospital cases."This Monday maximum temperatures had already moved between 36 and 39 degrees in a large part of the country (with almost the entire territory under orange alert), although in some places the thermometers reached 40 degrees in the southern half of the country.

It was specifically in the areas of Charente, Languedoc-Roussillon, Ardèche, Drome and Isère, according to the morning bulletin from Météo-France. The heat didn't let up even during the night, with values generally above twenty degrees, although in the center of large cities it was even more intense, as in Paris, with some points in the capital at 28 degrees. On Wednesday, a progressive drop in temperatures will begin to be seen, starting in the west, but in central, eastern and southern France they will remain very high.
