Rains in Venezuela leave a balance of 6 dead

Caracas.- Six people have died during the current rainy season in Venezuela, reported this Friday the Vice Minister for Risk Management and Civil Protection, Juan Carlos Oti.

"Hemos tenido más de 203.000 personas afectadas y nada más, hasta el día de hoy, tenemos seis fallecidos por causa de la lluvia",

indicó el funcionario.
The rains, which began at the end of June, have caused damage in a large part of western Venezuela, which includes, among others, the regions of Barinas, Táchira, Trujillo, Mérida and Portuguesa, and have also affected localities in the state of Bolívar (south, bordering Brazil) and Guárico (center).

The Catholic organization Cáritas Venezuela reported that it has distributed 160 tons of essential supplies to more than 100,000 people affected by the heavy rains of recent months, in the areas where landslides and river floods have been reported that have caused flooding.
