Buenos Aires.- The President of Argentina, Javier Milei, announced this Saturday the invitation from his US counterpart, Donald Trump, to join the Executive Board for Peace for Gaza, a gesture for which he has publicly expressed his gratitude.
Through his X account, Milei said: "It is an honor for me to have received tonight the invitation for Argentina to join, as a founding member, the Board of Peace, an organization created by President Trump to promote lasting peace in regions affected by conflicts, starting with the Gaza Strip." The far-right leader, with a great affinity for Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, added: "Argentina will always be on the side of countries that fight head-on against terrorism, that defend life and property, and that promote peace and freedom. It is an honor for us to accompany them in such a responsibility."

The Milei-Trump link began before the American's assumption of his second presidential term and grew during 2025, when the US Treasury supported Argentina amid financial difficulties, in addition to Trump's discursive intervention in support of Milei a few weeks before the midterm elections. The announcement of the composition of the Executive Board came after the White House announced phase two of Trump's peace plan for Gaza, which involves the formation of a government of technocrats in the Strip and the disarmament of Hamas.
This second phase contemplates the formation of a new Executive in the enclave, which must be formed by Palestinians who are not members of Hamas, an Islamist paramilitary group that must be disarmed, according to US stipulations.
Blair and the rest of the board members will execute the plans of the commission chaired by Trump himself, which oversees the implementation of the plan for the enclave and will supervise the new Gazan government.
