Zelensky calls his meeting with Trump “long and substantial”

The Hague.- The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, described as "long and substantial" the meeting he held in The Hague with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, and announced that it served to discuss "how to achieve a ceasefire and real peace" and "how to protect" the Ukrainian civilian population. "We have covered all the really significant issues," Zelensky said in a message posted on his social media after the meeting, in which he also explained that he will later provide more details on the content of the meeting. The Ukrainian president also valued after meeting with Trump "the attention and willingness to help bring peace" that, in his opinion, the US president is showing. Zelensky had previously stated before the meeting that he intended to discuss with Trump the possibility of the USA dictating new sanctions to force Russia to declare a ceasefire.

Another priority for the Ukrainian leader was to personally ask Trump again to accept the Ukrainian offer to purchase a new US military aid package, which has not approved any new shipments since the change of tenant in the White House and has not yet responded to this proposal from Kiev.

The previous US administration sent military aid to Ukraine in the form of a donation.

In a press conference in which he reviewed his participation in the summit of the NATO, Trump said that "the meeting couldn't have gone better", and insisted that he hopes the war will end.

"I am going to speak with (Russian President) Vladimir Putin to see if we can put an end to it," declared the American president, who added that 7,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers died last week on the front.

"It's crazy, it's crazy. Now I will speak with Putin. I had a good meeting with Zelensky, and I had very good meetings," Trump hammered home.
