“Dominican and done!”: Abinader celebrates RD's victory against Korea in the World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, expressed his pride and congratulated the national baseball team after their resounding victory over South Korea, a result that secured the team's place in the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic. Through his account on the social network X, the president highlighted the talent and dedication of the Dominican team.

“What a pride! Our Dominican selection defeats South Korea and advances to the semifinals of the World Baseball Classic. This team plays with talent, passion, and the heart of an entire country. Dominican and already!”, wrote the head of state when reacting to the triumph.

The Dominican selection advanced with authority to the semifinal round after defeating South Korea by knockout 10 runs to 0 in the quarterfinals, ensuring its return to this instance of the tournament for the first time since 2013. The Caribbean team dominated the match from start to finish, showing its offensive power and the depth of its lineup against the Asian team. The final blow came with a three-run home run by catcher Austin Wells, which extended the Dominican lead and sealed the victory by the mercy rule in the seventh inning. In addition, a spectacular play by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sliding into home plate helped open the scoring and ignite the team's offense.
