Los Angeles. – The Los Angeles Dodgers will suffer a significant offensive loss after Dominican outfielder Teóscar Hernández left Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies due to left hamstring discomfort.
Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that the player will be placed on the injured list and anticipated that he could be out of action for "several weeks", pending the results of medical tests that will determine the exact severity of the injury.
Hernández presented discomfort while running towards first base after hitting a ground ball in his only offensive at-bat of the game. Television cameras showed the Dominican with obvious signs of pain, holding the back of his left leg before heading to the clubhouse.
"It's disappointing. He's been playing very well and is an important piece for us," Roberts expressed about the outfielder's absence.
The Dominican is going through one of his best offensive moments of the season. He is currently batting .276 with an OPS of .784 and had regained prominence in the Dodgers' lineup after a solid performance during the month of May.
Hernández had been the starting left fielder in practically every game for the team during the season, establishing himself as one of the most consistent hitters on the Los Angeles team.
In his absence, the Dodgers are evaluating bringing up outfielder and first baseman Ryan Ward from the minor leagues, considered the number 19 prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline.
Teoscar's injury adds to other physical problems that have recently affected the Californian team, including the absence of Kiké Hernández, who was also sent to the injured list.
Meanwhile, another Dominican continues to shine in the Major Leagues. The left-handed Cristopher Sánchez continues to make history with the Philadelphia Phillies after extending his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 44.2 innings, setting a new franchise record and establishing himself as one of the most dominant pitchers of the 2026 season.
