TERESÓPOLIS, Brazil. – Forward Neymar Jr. stepped back onto the pitch at Granja Comary, the training center of the Brazilian national team, this Friday, as he continues to recover from a muscle injury in his right calf ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
The Santos attacker was seen smiling during the Canarinha practice, conversing with members of the coaching staff headed by the Italian Carlo Ancelotti, although he did not participate in the training sessions with the rest of the squad.
According to images released by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Neymar made gentle movements on the field in sneakers, in his first appearance on the field since joining Brazil's training camp last Wednesday.
The Brazilian star is undergoing intensive treatment supervised by the national team doctors with the aim of recovering in time for the World Cup debut against Morocco, scheduled for next June 13 in New Jersey.
According to local media reports, the player's recovery work includes physiotherapy and gym sessions, while this Friday he only performed light exercises and observed the full training of his teammates.
The CBF reported on Thursday that Neymar will be out of action for between two and three weeks due to a grade II muscle injury, a more delicate diagnosis than the one initially disclosed by Santos, which had only reported edema.
The all-time top scorer for the Brazilian national team will miss the preparatory friendlies against Panama and Egypt, although he remains on the roster to play in what would be his fourth World Cup.
During the session, Neymar was also observed conversing with Rodrigo Caetano, coordinator of the Brazilian men's national teams, as the team intensifies its preparation for the tournament.
Brazil will play in the 2026 World Cup under the direction of Carlo Ancelotti, who recently took over the team with the aim of returning the Canarinha to the top of world football.
