CINCINNATI. — The Cincinnati Reds made the decision to send Dominican Noelvi Marte to Triple-A Louisville after a slow offensive start in the current Major League season.

Mars, who began the year with expectations of establishing himself as the starting right fielder, failed to find his rhythm with the bat. In 11 games, he has a batting average of .138 (4 hits in 29 at-bats), with no extra-base hits or RBIs and 10 strikeouts.
Manager Terry Francona attributed the player's slump to a difficult moment in his offensive approach.
"He's just going through a tough time. It seems like he's trying to do too much in every at-bat," he noted. According to reports, the team plans to call up outfielder Rece Hinds to take his place on the 26-man roster. Hinds has excelled both in spring training and in Triple-A, where he is batting .354 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 13 games. Marte, 24 years old, is coming off a 2025 season in which he batted .263 with 14 home runs and 51 RBIs in 90 games. However, his recent development has been marked by ups and downs, including an 80-game suspension in 2024 for violating the anti-doping program. Originally a third baseman, the Dominican was moved to right field in mid-2025, a position in which he showed defensive progress and even starred in key plays for the team in the final stretch of the season. Now, with his return to the minor leagues, Marte will seek to regain offensive consistency and regain the level that projected him as one of the important young pieces in Cincinnati's immediate future.
